Description
Niah Caves National Park is located 131 km from Miri which is around two hours drive from Miri City.It is one of South East Asia ‘s most important prehistoric sites . It was the home of the Niah Man (recent research has proved that it was a Niah Woman!), 40,000 years ago which is the oldest human remains in South East Asia. The great Cave & Painted Cave have been declared as a national historical monuments as visitors can observed the remaining artifacts kept at the park museum. Niah Cave is famous for the production of the edible bird nest. Your tour starts with pick up from your hotel and go on a scenic two hours drive to Miri city which is located in Sarawak state of Malaysia.
After a brief stop in Miri, we will start our journey to Niah
National Park which will take around two hours going through oil palm
plantation and Iban longhouses.
On arrival at the Park Headquarters, We will register and then cross the Niah
River and visit the Niah Cave Museum which houses relics from the caves. (
* The museum is close on Monday)
Continue with a 3 km plank walk to the entrance of the cave. The walk goes
through mixed dipterocarp forest. We will explore the Traders Cave, Painted Cave
and the Great Cave. Return to Park HQ for lunch before proceeding back to Miri
and continue to Brunei
Your tour ends with drop off at your hotel.
